• Contract review and negotiations;
• Employee discipline, including grievances, suspensions and terminations;
• Student discipline, including drafting policies to implement recent changes in the law;
• Government Relations and Lobbying;
• Civil Rights statutes including Title VI, Title IX, and Section 504;
• Employment issues including those arising under the ADA, Title VII, FMLA, FLSA, USERRA and ADEA; and
• First Amendment and other Constitutional issues.

We routinely advise school boards regarding their policies and regulations and also attend school board meetings when requested. We have extensive experience representing school boards in administrative hearings for personnel matters, unemployment challenges, and investigations conducted by the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) of the Department of Education, the Department of Justice, the Department of Labor, and the EEOC.  We have also litigated cases in both federal and state courts and have argued cases on appeal to the Virginia Court of Appeals, the Virginia Supreme Court, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
